2017 PGA Tour Rookies and Sleepers for Fantasy Golf

2016 - 2017 Top PGA Tour Rookies

2016-2017 Top PGA Tour RookiesEvery year there is a new crop of PGA Tour rookies that graduate from the Web.com Tour or from other countries. If you are a fantasy golf player this is important because for season long players they are a low cost sleeper pick to look at for your team. When you are playing daily fantasy golf at DraftKings for a contest like the PGA Birdie then PGA Tour rookies are usually a low cost salary cap option…at least until they start to win.

Rookies tend to play in every tournament they can, especially in the fall before the winter break and all the spring time tournaments hoping to not only make some cash in their new career but to try to qualify for the 4 golf majors and play on the big stage.

If you haven’t ever tried playing daily fantasy golf you may want to try out either the BIGGEST Fantasy Golf site DraftKings and take advantage of our free fantasy contest ticket offer when you make your 1st deposit. Or, you can try out another top fantasy golf site like PlayOn which offers European golf contests and is actually the official fantasy golf provider for the European Tour.

Join DraftKings.com , our partners in fantasy golf and use our exclusive links to take advantage of our Bonus offer! Make your first deposit of $5 or more and you’ll get a FREE entry into their PGA Birdie Contest that offers hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes each and every PGA Tour tournament.

2017 PGA Tour Rookies – Top Rankings and Picks

  1. Jon Rahm – Playing in Tour stops through sponsor's exemptions, Rahm began racking up top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour while still in college at Arizona State. He turned pro in June and was a runner-up at the RBC Canadian Open and had a T-3 at the Quicken Loans National. Not eligible for the Rookie of the Year in 2017 but he may just be the Best PGA Tour Rookies in 2017!
  2. Cheng Tsung Pan – Also known as CT Pan is a former #1 ranked amateur has qualified for 3 U.S. Open Tournaments (made the cut in 2 of them). Pan had seven top 10 finishes last year on the Web Tour and is a solid ball-striker whose should turn some heads this year.
  3. Ollie Schniederjans - Many golf experts love Schniederjans game and so far he has shown why. He had a win and a 2nd place finish in his rookie season on the Web.com Tour which basically made him a shoe in for this year’s tour card.
  4. Grayson Murray – Murray led the Web.com Tour in top 10 finishes and was second on the money list. He can also hit the ball a far distance and has a great birdie average. He will be a good pick to watch this 2016/2017 PGA Tour season.
  5. Wesley Bryan – Bryan earned his tour card with the rare Battlefield Promotion which means if you win 3 Web.com Tournaments you automatically get your card for the following year. Does that mean Bryan is that good? He is a great putter and even was a contestant on Big Break. His long term potential is suspect but I expect him to play a lot in 2017 to try to keep the card he just earned.
  6. Trey Mullinax – Trey has a solid all-around golf game which bodes well for his future. He finished 8th on the money list and had a solid college golf career. He isn’t going to be listed as one of the top rookies in 2017 but he will be around for the future.
  7. Andrew Johnston – More popularly known as “Beef” has been on both the European and Web Tours to snag his PGA Tour card for 2017. Will finish off the Euro Golf schedule and start on the PGA in the New Year. Finished tied for 8th at last summer’s Open Championship and hits it pretty far and has a good wedge game. Putter needs work but hey…don’t all of us need help with the putter?
  8. Bryson DeChambeau – Is a former NCAA champion and U.S. Amateur champion who made some waves as an amateur on the PGA Tour with a T-4 at the RBC Heritage and a T-15 at the US Open. Struggled a bit when he turned pro but he has the pedigree to be a great player on tour.
  9. Brandon Hagy – Hagy is a long hitter who has had a taste of the PGA with 8 starts in 2015 and 2 last year. For a long hitter he can putt well and has a good short game. Not many people talking about him but they will be.
  10. Richy Werenski – Finished in 2nd in the Web.com money earnings and also won The Big Break - The Palm Beaches FL. edition. Werenski is more of a sleeper pick on this list of rookies.
